Although William 133's first wife whom he married at Shotley died 9months and two weeks after they married, there does not appear to be achild that would result from this union. There is the problem of somemonuments still standing at Blanchland Abbey that are not legible. Themonument being made of sandstone is barely standing, and probably is forEliz. If it were an offspring, it would probably be an 'end of line'.Was witness to several marriages at Blanchland.
Signed his name with an 'x', his mark.

This from Brian Pears, the list moderator for the Northumberland Rootswebemail list, that draws a similarity in approximate location butdifferentiates between Fell-groove the mine and Fell-grove farm:
"There is apparently a Fellgrove farm about half a mile from Shildon,Durham. By the 1860s, Shildon may have been just a row of houses. Inearlier times - even a generation or two earlier - it was somewhatlarger. This mine had been operating since the 15th century and by the19th century it was well past its peak. (It may have closed c1862, but noreference avail.) As the principle lead-mining/lead-smelting centre forthe 'Arkengarthdale and Derwent Lead Mine Co' Shildon Mine employed a lotof men and needed a good-sized settlement to house them. If you exploreon the ground today you can get a good idea just how extensive themine/smelter/settlements were (however treacherous ground for twistingankles)."
"There were several mines operated by the 'Arkengarthdale and DerwentLead Mine Co'. Leaving aside those in the North Riding of Yorkshire, there were five - Shildon and Beldon Mines near Blanchland, and over theRiver Derwent, in and around Hunstanworth, there were Jeffrey's, Ramshawand Whiteheaps Mines."

William Temperley and family lived at "Fellgroove". Similarly, one ofthe veins of lead mined at Beldon Mine was called "Fellgrove".Fell-groove then may be North of the River Derwent, contrast to Fellgrovefarm which is a good distance South, near Shildon.
Shildon was at Grid Ref: 423131 , 526498 on the old maps site [online]http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
It appears to be about 10 miles North of Darlington, which is furtherSouth than the Birkside, Shotley area where William 133 lived beforeretiring to Acomb.

Researchers: Several descendants have contributed to the chart for thisbranch.
George was the only known surviving member of this family and has notbeen followed forward. He probably is the progenitor of families in andaround Acomb, and subsequently Shotley parish.
Note: Several descendants are interested in this branch because of thetime and place.
9. Nicholas#134 TEMPERLEY-1.3.4 "Nich." 1 (Georgij OR George , Guliliemus or William ) was born in Fallowfield,Warden Prs,NBL,England. He was christened on 26 May 1715 in St. John Lee,NBL,Eng. He died 2 in 1781. He was buried in Haydon Old Cemetary,Haydon Bridge,NBL,Eng. Nicholas#134 was employed 3 as occupation Coal Miner in Stublick, NBL, Eng. He signed a will 4 in England. He resided 5 on 18 May 1749 in Greggshield, Haydon Bridge, NBL, Eng. He resided 6 on 22 Jan 1750 in Oldfield, Allendale, NBL, Eng. He resided 7 in 1762 in Catton, Allendale, NBL, Eng. He served in the military 8 Catton Constabulary in 1862 in Catton, Allendale, NBL, Eng.
Unless the birth date is discovered, the christening date will beduplicated as the birth date. Often the situation appears where anindividual is baptized much later in life.
By the order and dates/time of his children's christenings, Nicholasprobably moved to the Haydon Bridge/Allendale/Langley area between 1745and 1749.
The family moved to a residence very near the border of Haydon Br andAllendale.

Nicholas' will notated him as 'Coal miner of Pit House Stoblock. TheDinning mine might be Stublock number 9, and Nicholas' Pit House may havebeen a different mine/shaft.
Nicholas also mentions in his will 'Nephew John Temperley of theStonehall' which is probably the Stonehall two miles SouthEast of Catton. This would lend some support to the possibility (as explained in thegenealogy beginning at the descendancy of John 5) that this JohnTemperley was an illegitimate child or an orphan. In all probability, heis not the child of Mary Oxley or John 5.

When John Temperley senior dies 11.2.1797 he is described (BishopTranscripts) as a Farmer and senior member of Vestry at Warden church. Hesigns the completed transcripts for the years that he is inoffice(1774-1798) University Archives Durham.
[Notes from the compiled aggregate of Temperley descendant notes anddatabase:]
There is a possibility that the family may have changed churchaffiliation subsequent to John #135's death, presumably by 1814.
Occupation: farmer, was a Vestry member of the Warden church also.
John Temperley was a Vestry member at Warden Church and signs theBishopTranscripts for several years. He was succeeded by his son Henry.John was a member of the Vestry 1774-1794. RESEARCH NOTES
[1-4 Notes from the compiled aggregate of Temperley descendant notes anddatabase:]1. John 135's son John 1355 is referred to as John Temporley A1355because there is a records conflict in that John#B1351 was put on earliercharts as John 135's son. Most of the earlier charts have no footnotes,so it is difficult to remove either of the two from the chart.Consequently there are two sons for John named John on this run. Chancesare, John B1351 was the 'nephew of Stonehall' that Nicholas of Stublickreferred to in his will. As of July 2003, the possibility is increasingof Robert and Elizabeth Temperley having a son John born from Fallowfieldduring the period that SJL parish records are missing. One point ofreference is the mention by Nicholas 134 of John of Stonehall in hiswill.
2. Thread A is arbitrarily assigned a letter. The records of John 5'sson John by Mary Oxley supports this thread and is the most likely.
3. Thread A appears to be the correct one. Thread B could prove anascent to another individual.
4. Thread B is arbitrarily assigned a letter. John #B1351 married AnniePearson. John B1351 is difficult to attach to the union of John 135 andMary Oxley. It is not likely that John 1351 B would be baptized againand then marry Ann Elliot before marrying again to Annie Pearson - logicwould have it that they are separate individuals.
John#135 married (1) Unknown ?.
They had the following children:

From the five earlier charts of Temperley descendants
John #B1351 Temperley
Thread B in the descendancy of John 5 attaches this individual to thetree. However, without this thread, this individual is not attached tothe tree, and his parentage is unknown. Mary Oxley is evidently not thisindividuals mother. There are two Johns stuck in the descendancy here, because both have supporting documents, but #B1351 is definitely the mostlike candidate to be moved to another lineage.John married 1, 2 Annie PEARSON on 27 Aug 1774 in Allendale,NBL,Eng.
FHL MicroFilm 252521 containing Marriages and banns, 1754-1822 atAllendale parish, may have more information for this record.
Also, there is a burial for an Ann Temperley in Simonburn, residenceStonecroft, that may be this individual.
Stonecroft appears to be about
~1.4 ESE of Parish, Newbrough
~2.6 SSW of Parish, Haydon Bridge
~3.3 NNE of Parish, Simonburn
~3.9 ESE of Parish, Warden
John#135 married (2) Mary OXLEY-135 on 15 Nov 1749 in Bywell St Peters,NBL,Eng. Mary died 1 on 23 Jan 1798 in Fourstones Fell,Warden Prs,NBL,Eng.
Rschr EW who tracked down the records for this family, believes MaryOxley was the daughter of Edward Oxley, and was c. 22nd April 1722 atHexham. There is a discrepancy in date of birth with age at death butspeculatively EW will endeavor to determine whether a) she did not reallyknow her age or b) whether this was a daughter who died and Mary was asecond daughter given the same name. It could also be that the LDS havetranscribed incorrectly. This often seems to be the problem. At somepoint, the original record will be reviewed.

William's name is spelled Temporal here because that is the way itappeared on IGI extractions of the record. There doesn't seem to be anyexplanation as to why his record and the marriage of his father wasspelled that way. Although it is not certain, since the record was theonly last name Temperoral in the entire North East of England, and theparents names fit, it seems a reasonable conclusion that this record issurname Temperley. There were varying degrees of literacy at this time. Some members of the family on other branches were leaving 'x' as theirmark, circa 1750 (see William 133).
